Scouting District Award of Merit

The recipient for the District Award of Merit was born in Washington State on a cold winter’s day in January, much like today. She was a sickly child and the family showered her with attention as they did not expect her to live long. To this day she avoids attention and does not like to be in front of people. She says it makes her feel sick. If you want to figure out who this person is simply look around the room for the lovely lady who feels the most ill right now. When she turned eight her family built a house and moved to Blanding. After graduating from San Juan High she attended Snow College where she met her husband who happened to be an Eagle Scout. She is the mother of 2 and a half dozen children! That is to say 2 girls and a half dozen boys.As her boys approached Cub Scout age the scout callings came and kept coming. She has served as Pack 906’s Cub Committee Chairman, Primary counselor over cubs, Cub Master, Cub Committee member, Den Leader, Assistant Den Leader and Webelos Leader. She has also served as a committee member for Pack 1629 at White Mesa. Many of these positions she held 2 or 3 times. On the district level she has served as roundtable commissioner 3 times and earned her feather after attending Akela’s Council. Her 23 years in cubbing is not the extent of her service. She has supported her husband through good times and bad with his scouting positions of over 26 years. We are pleased to present the District Award of Merit to …...
