Six Brothers, Six Eagles

When our six sons were all little, they talked about how they would all earn the Eagle Scout Rank.  They would talk about what kinds of a Eagle projects they would do and had a lot of fun at scout camps and earning merit badges.  Joel and Jarell finally completed their requirements and had their final interview and we started planning a trip to Logan so all the boys could be together for this special day.  Jon got a couple of days off so he could drive up with his family.  Grandma Jones decided to come up with the Kyles family.
We had such a fun visit. The boys were all together for the first time in about five years and it was great to see them all together again.
Of course we had to get in the mood with "Two Sharp-Toothed Buzzards".

Then the Eagle Awards were presented.

They they got to pin the Mom and Dad pins on us.
(Look at those grins as they contemplate what they would like to do!)
Then Dan and the boys formed an Eagles Nest and we took a lot of pictures.

Following the ceremony, we went to Josh and Ashlee's apartment and had more fun times visiting, eating and laughing.  It was a wonderful weekend!  How blessed we are to have such great men in our family! How grateful we are that we can spend time together.

Building a Playhouse (Part 3)

We finally found a couple of free weekends to work on the playhouse again.  The electric was all hooked up, so we now have a light and 2 outlets.  One of the outlets is up high on the wall so we can put up a shelf with a little TV for watching movies.
I look like a giant in this little house!!

We did get the outside painted and it looks really cute with the darker trim.
Now to put on a door, mud, paint, add trim and carpet!

Building a Playhouse (Part 2)

Time for an update on how the building is going.  We finally got the playhouse roofed, with a donation of some extra shingles from Aunt Susan.  It looks pretty good for our first time.

Then we put in the 2 windows and added some shed siding.
Then we added some white metal edging around the roof.
The corners were finished with some trim boards, and the outside is done.
Now to put on a door, add electricity and sheetrock the inside.  More later.....

Building a PlayHouse

Our nephew and niece are building a new house just around the corner, and we are so excited for them.  Cory said we could use some of the scrap lumber from their house if we wanted to, so we decided to build a playhouse by the swings.  It's crazy how much lumber is thrown out from building a house.  We figured we would have to at least buy some of the 2 x 4's, but we were able to frame the whole thing with scraps!

Originally I thought it would be a fun place for the grandkids to play, but the teens are already making dibs on who is going to sleep out there first!
See the piles of siding?
Jayd putting on the last couple of pieces.

We have it all framed and sided now. Roofing to come soon!
